Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Dear friends of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Survivorship Program,

As the science of understanding the mind’s effect on the body has improved, plenty of research has shown that stress, chronic depression and lack of social support might serve as risk factors for cancer progression and may impact survival. The great news is that we can learn to manage our stress levels.

This edition of “Survive and Thrive” features information about the role of stress in cancer survivors: common stressors, health effects and coping strategies. If you’re feeling the negative impact of stress, we hope you’ll take steps to regain a sense of emotional wellness. We can help connect you with stress management resources; just ask!

Wishing you well,

K. Scott Baker
