This kind, curious, loving, passionate, smart, funny, playful man left us August 28, 2017 at the age of 68 from pancreatic cancer just one month after he was diagnosed. For those unfamiliar, pancreatic cancer is the deadliest cancer in the world.
During our one month journey, we were so honored by and supported by our community, especially by the Facebook page (https://m.facebook.com/groups/332641463824883) and CaringBridge site (www.caringbridge.org/visit/scottmortlock) where hundreds wrote messages to Scott.
Many have asked what else they can do. Scott wanted this: to help others, to invest in science and research, and to recognize the kindness we received from Dr. Hingorani at the University of Washington/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, who is one of the leading researchers of pancreatic cancer in the world and who also lost his father to this disease.
On our last phone call with Dr. Hingorani, he promised to never give up the fight - for Scott and others that will come after him. We can all help him do that by donating to his research in loving memory and in honor of the lasting gifts we all received from Scott/Mr. Mortlock/Dad/Uncle Scott/Grampy.
As we've learned to say a lot over the last month, Thank You.
